WE Learn Aftercare / Summer Learning

What makes WE Learn special? It’s not just tutoring. It’s discipleship, play, leadership, development and so much more. With a full schedule each afternoon, students enjoy outdoor play, a full meal, homework help, tutoring on subjects that challenge them, read-aloud and enrichment activities (think art, sewing, physics experiments, model trains, botany— it’s a STEAM smorgasbord!).

In the summer, we make use of frequent field trips, pool excursions, and lots of community garden care. Perhaps what makes WE Learn most effective is training for 100% neurodivergence. Not that every student comes in with a diagnosis or neurodivergent pattern, but many do, and for us to be equipped to serve everyone with the tools they need means we will be equipped to serve as many neurodivergent kids as will come to us. (Bonus: Most of the tools that help neurodivergent kids benefit neurotypical kids as well!)

Requirements

– Background check (at no cost to you)
– One-hour online training
– One-hour on-site training.

What You’ll Do

Leading, encouraging, teaching, tutoring, learning (It’s WE Learn, not “Kids Learn” for a reason!), listening, playing, laughing, discipling, painting, wiping up spills, working out conflicts, and a million more things.

Your main role is to accompany kids through the activities, helping them where necessary, and giving them the most effective and precious learning resource available — your undivided attention. Volunteers beware: You may leave this program different from when you entered, with a few new Gen-Alpha slang words, and whole a lot of love in your heart for these wonderful kids.
