WE Learn Volunteer

Kids at Hemphill Elementary are up against it. Eight in ten struggle to read. Kids should not have to fight this hard for an education. Oftentimes what kids really need is a helping hand and a friendly face. You can make the difference.

As a WE Learn Volunteer you will mentor, tutor and spend time with kids in West End. You will make an impact in the life of each child who walks through the door.

Because you volunteer, lives get changed.

Ready to join the team?

Requirements

– Experience in or passion for elementary education
– Commitment to at least one semester
– Able to pass a background check
– Able to attend trainings, including Safe Sanctuary training

What You’ll Do

– Tutor students
– Assist with homework
– Play games with children
– Provide supervision during academic instruction/activities
– Serve as a role model for the future leaders of the West End community

Days and Times

Monday – Friday; 2:45pm to 6pm
