It is my pleasure to introduce Urban Ministry’s new executive director, Mélodie Agnew. Mélodie comes to Urban Ministry after having served as executive director of Norwood Resource Center for 11 years. During her service, Norwood has become a more vibrant neighborhood on the rise. We were truly fortunate to have found a leader with her expertise in community building!
Mélodie’s approach to community development is partnership with and investment in its people. In Norwood, she developed and managed programs focused on supporting families and promoting healthy lifestyles and neighborhood pride. We look forward to the energy Mélodie will bring to our mission in West End.
Mélodie is a Birmingham native and alumna of Spelman College in Atlanta. She serves on numerous Birmingham committees including the UAB Minority Health and Health Disparities Research Center Building Healthy Communities Committee and Mayor Woodfin’s Task Force on Economic Development. Her many honors include an American Cancer Society Life Inspiration Award for Advocacy in Action, an NAACP Award for Community Service, and a nomination for a 2016 Fusion Award.
Mélodie’s first day at Urban Ministry will be Monday, June 25th. We will welcome her with a special reception at lunch on Thursday, June 28 in WE Cafe. Be sure to save the date!
Best regards,
